Why I chose anesthesia?
Long story with lots of unexpected events but ultimately it was the people here and the long-term goal of having a good work life balance. At the time I chose it without really knowing much about the bread and butter of anesthesia and just went with my gut.

Now, I'd choose it again because I like the perioperative setting, the pace, and the lack of continuity of care. I'd get weighed down with emotions if I was able to get to know my patients too much. I've always been intrigued by anatomy and physiology and can appreciate that it challenges me. Anesthesiology feels like the sped-up version of applied A&P with a side of path, so I know I'll always be challenged and always have more to learn and therefore hopefully never bored.
